Regeneration of an aged hydrodesulfurization catalyst: Conventional thermal vs non-thermal plasma technology

نویسندگان

چکیده

This study compares the regeneration efficiency of an aged industrial hydrodesulfurization catalyst (CoMoP/Al2O3) by conventional and alternative routes: thermal oxidation versus non-thermal plasma technology (NTP). Spent, partially, fully regenerated catalysts have been characterized XRD, XPS, toluene hydrogenation to measure hydrogenating activity. Complete HDS via NTP requires heating dielectric barrier discharge reactor. Total removal coke is obtained from 250 °C applying only 8.6 W/gcatalyst, against 400 treatment. The activity assisted temperature higher than that traditional practiced industrially. Plasma treatment mitigates oxide sintering but leads formation cobalt species preventing Co playing its role as MoS2 slabs promoter. using low appears a promising combustion.

New approaches in thermal plasma technology*

Thermal plasmas offer unique advantages for materials processing, such as high fluxes of heat and of reactant species. Recent developments have concentrated on improving control of these fluxes across the boundaries surrounding the thermal plasma. Secondary discharges (hybrid plasma generators) and pulse modulation of the plasma have been some of the approaches for this end. The use of such met...

Non-Thermal Plasma Decomposition of Dilute Trichloroethylene in Air - Catalyst Effect

High pressure non-thermal plasma decomposition performance for low density, typically 250 ppm, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), mostly trichloroethylene, in synthesized air was examined for various conditions. In order to improve the VOCs decomposition energy efficiency of the plasma reactor, new manganese-dioxide supported alumina spheres were examined, where that catalyst works well to deco...
